Not the first time that this has happened, and, within the context of greater California history not exactly an anomaly. Of the past 473 years of European presence in the Golden State, 306 years were originally under Spanish domination---what shall we make of that? Difficult to reside in cities named San Diego, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Sacramento and think for at least a fleeting moment that our tradition historical awareness is not somewhat skewed. Dare we even contemplate the situation from indigenous eyes?
