There is good reason why only 53% of American think vaccines are safe. Too many people have known someone harmed by vaccines, or someone who became ill with the very illness the vaccines were supposed to prevent, years after being vaccinated.
In 1986 liability for vaccine damage was taken away from the manufactures, under direction of the the courts, by an act of congress. The liability for vaccine damage currently is placed in a system of forced arbitration where the rules allowing what constitutes a claim have become so narrow and the compensation so inadequate for raising a special needs child, that a healthy minority of people are wisely dubious of vaccines makers claims of safety or effectiveness.
I guess there is sense in likening how many people believe in vaccines to how many people believe in ghosts. Since both beliefs are highly dubious.
