If you've been listening to people like Chuck Todd over the past few days, you may have gotten the impression that the thought of Mitt Romney running for president is sort of crazy. But, as often happens, the insider Washington viewpoint can conflict with those outside the Beltway. A recent YouGov poll, for example, finds Romney the most popular GOP candidate, 16 points ahead of Jeb Bush. Strikingly, Romney has a favorability rating of 82% among Republicans, 21 points more than Bush. And a Democratic Corps poll has Clinton only 6 points ahead of Romney but 12 points ahead of Bush. One of the problems with insiders is that they don't go outside enough.
Our running average of recent polls has Romney five points ahead of Bush. They're the only two in double digits. Clinton would beat everyone by double digits
