President Donald Trump is no kind of feminist, but he likes to point to his
hiring and promotion of women to silence criticism of both his misogynist
policies and personal conduct. His White House chief of staff Susie Wiles is
actually the first woman to have the job.
But the Guardian points out that
during his second term, there is one common characteristic share by most of
those he has jettisoned from his administration.
“In the space of just a few
months, half of his eight female cabinet officials have either resigned or been
fired. All have been replaced by men,” reports the Guardian. “Several other
women in his administration have also departed, whether voluntarily or
involuntarily.”
The women are fleeing so fast
that on Friday, Trump was forced to deny claims that he was even mulling
replacing Wiles. “She’s gonna be here for a long time,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, the Guardian reports
that numerous top male officials, including Trump’s goof--prone defense
secretary Pete Hegseth, who has endangered soldiers by sharing military
developments and plans on Signal chat, and threatening to embarrass the nation
by broadcasting the live feed of shooting a paraplegic in a wheelchair, remains
in his post, as does the allegedly drunken and mouthy FBI director Kash Patel.
