In a stunning new court filing, Citibank revealed that the FBI ordered them to freeze the groups' bank accounts because they are allegedly involved in "possible criminal violations" including "conspiracy to defraud the United States."
The Appalachian Community Capital Corporation, the Coalition for Green Capital, the Colorado Clean Energy Fund, and the DC Green Bank are some of the other nonprofit groups being targeted — but the list is lengthy.
This weaponization of the FBI is a blatant attempt to undermine the consensus around climate change so that the Trump administration can pump even more money into the pockets of fossil fuel companies.
