Jonathan
Willson Hartgrove - The Associated Press reported this week that early
voting turnout has surged over past midterms, especially in states with key
Senate races that will decide who controls the upper chamber of Congress.
In Texas, early voting is up 74% compared with 2022. In
Kansas it’s more than doubled. Maine, North Carolina and Ohio also have seen
increases of more than 30% in early in-person and mail voting compared with the
same point in 2022.
Here in North Carolina, early voting opened a week ago
today, and first day turnout was 47% higher than the first day of the midterm
vote in 2022
