Bringing history and humanities together

Sam Smith - The DC History Center and Humanities DC have entered into an agreement to merge and become a new organization. This may seem like insignificant news to many but for my wife and I it’s quite startling because my wife Kathy ran the history center and I helped to start the DC Humanities Council. As the two groups put it, “Together, we are creating a unified nonprofit dedicated to preserving the District's history, celebrating its culture, funding the humanities, and helping Washingtonians better understand our city and one another.”
