THe Hill - Some highlights of the budget proposal include:
- The elimination of LIHEAP, a program that helps low-income people heat and cool their homes
- Terminating $4 billion for electric vehicle chargers from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
- Repurposing billions in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law green funding at the Department of Energy to support energy sources favored by the administration as well as AI
- Canceling $15 billion from the bipartisan infrastructure law for technologies including renewables and carbon capture
- Canceling funds for environmental research at various agencies
- Reducing funds for FEMA non-disaster grant programs
The budget reflects the administration's priorities, but is ultimately unlikely to be adopted by Congress, where funding typically requires bipartisan agreement.
