    California has the largest number of Indian reservations as well, many of which are incredibly dinky and underfunded (lots of corduroy roads and dirt paths for streets), but then it must never be forgotten that the Eisenhower administration wanted to delete the reservations and end all the treaties in a bid to make them all "truly American". It went nowhere; Sputnik was a distraction.
