MULTITUDES: The unauthorized memoirs of Sam Smith

UNDERNEWS - On second thought....

Sam Smith - As I go into my second consecutive day of not posting any news, I realize this may be a misjudgement on my part. This 87 year old is not troubled by the work involved so much as the amount of work and the endless deadlines. It occurs to me that a good solution would be irregular and unpredictable postings.

I'm going to give that a try so don't cancel my messages. Going to experiment with irregular journalism. It may take me a month or only a few hours to come up with something interesting but let's give it a try. Not having anything to say today doesn't predict what happens tomorrow.

And many thanks to all the kind words I got from viewers about my planned shutdown.

    1. Well, since I'm 8 years younger than you I guess I have some work still to do. I've decided to try practicing erratic journalism. Posts unpredictable in timing or length. . . Meanwhile, great to hear from you and please keep me up to date on your work

  5. Please don't disappear. I've been reading your posts for years and always feel better for the knowledge and perspective that they give me. I didn't erase your link and was so happy to see a new post this morning. We need you now more than ever to make sense of what's going on. Thanks.

  7. Sam, try this. Live for the moment. Write and publish a story when you feel like it. Don't look at writing as something to be scheduled. I realized this way of being when discussing with friends vacations we took. Very frequently they or I would say simething like "we tried to cram so many things into our sight-seeing, we felt we needed a vacation to recuperate from our vacation".

Well I took a trip to St. Martin / St. Maarten. I decided to not plan things but live spur of rhe moment. I got up when I when I wish, ate when I wish. Rented a car and leisurely saw the sights on both the Dutch and French side of the Island. It was one of the most relaxing vacations I ever had. I noticed that even my allergies went away. I guess living in the moment does have it's own magic!
