Trump

NBC News -  Multiple people on social media believe they heard Donald Trump speaking with a lisp during his interview with Elon Musk. The former president spoke to the CEO of X, formerly Twitter, on Monday, in a livestream which has now seen tens of millions of views. At certain points during the interview, Trump's words sounded a bit odd, with users questioning whether it was due to technical issues, a lisp, or even if he was slurring... The BBC, which was live-blogging the chat at the time, recorded more than 20,000 posts with the term "slurring." Trump's spokesperson Steven Cheung told the British network: "Must be your hearing." Newsweek has contacted the Trump campaign for further comment.

NPR -  X owner Elon Musk tossed soft-ball questions to former President Donald Trump in an interview on Musk's social media platform last night after a 42-minute delay. Trump boasted about his relationships with leaders of U.S. adversaries like Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin, insulted his political opponents and rattled off familiar talking points, including that undocumented immigrants are dangerous. It went on for more than two hours. Musk claimed, without evidence, that a cyberattack caused the delay. The real explanation appeared to be widespread technical issues.

Newsweek -    During his interview with billionaire donor Elon Musk, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said they could "meet next time in Venezuela" if he loses November's election.  "If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we'll meet the next time in Venezuela, because it'll be a far safer place to meet than our country," Trump said to Musk. "OK, so we'll go. You and I will go, and we'll have a meeting and dinner in Venezuela."

A CNN fact check found that Trump made at least 20 false claims during the conversation.

MSNBC -  Former president Donald Trump's campaign flew to campaign events on a plane that was once owned by Jeffrey Epstein, according to the Miami Herald. A Trump spokesperson told the Miami Herald the campaign had no awareness that the charter plane had been owned by Mr. Epstein.

Time -During his presidency, Donald Trump repeatedly complained that the Federal Reserve was doing things that he believed were bad for the economy—complaints the Fed ignored. If Trump wins a second term, he may work to make sure the Fed has to listen to him. Both Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, argue that the President should have more power over one of the Fed’s most powerful tools: setting interest rates.

“I feel that the President should have at least say in there, yeah, I feel that strongly,” Trump said last week at a news conference in Mar-a-Lago. “I think I have a better instinct than, in many cases, people that would be on the Federal Reserve, or the chairman.” It's a move that would be a sea change for the United States, with ripple effects across the globe, as the Fed's independence from politics is widely viewed as central to its ability to effectively manage U.S. monetary policy.

Trump’s laundry list of increasingly bizarre claims

Political Wire - “Lawyers for Donald Trump have filed a $100 million claim with the Justice Department, alleging that the federal search of Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 was inappropriate and hurt Trump’s reputation, an attempt to keep alive the narrative that the former president has been persecuted by a biased Biden administration,” CNN reports.
