Washington Post, 2021 - When The Washington Post Fact Checker team first started cataloguing President Donald Trump’s false or misleading claims, we recorded 492 suspect claims in the first 100 days of his presidency. On Nov. 2 alone, the day before the 2020 vote, Trump made 503 false or misleading claims as he barnstormed across the country in a desperate effort to win reelection. This astonishing jump in falsehoods is the story of Trump’s tumultuous reign. By the end of his term, Trump had accumulated 30,573 untruths during his presidency — averaging about 21 erroneous claims a day.

Newsweek -  Nearly half of former President Donald Trump's financial assets returned no income—or income measured at less than $201—new financial filings show. Inactive assets accounted for 67 of Trump's listings that returned no income or less than $201. Thirty-three of the listings returning no income were dissolved in 2023.

Guardian -  Donald Trump made hundred of thousands from his branded Bible and millions from his properties – but also owes millions for defamation and fraud cases, according to his latest financial disclosures that shed little light on the perennial question of whether the Republican presidential nominee is, in fact, solvent.Voluminous disclosure documents to the US Office of Government Ethics to comply with election campaign laws show that, in addition to Trump’s US real estate holdings, he has global financial interests, including registered trademarks in China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ukraine and Israel.

He also owns millions in cryptocurrency and has a six-figure investment in gold bars. But the disclosures also hint at Trump’s substantial personal outgoings, including more than $500m owed to both the writer E Jean Carroll and the New York attorney general resulting from civil judgments involving defamation and accounting fraud.

Daily Mail UK -  Melania Trump earned six figures for speaking to a Republican fundraiser earlier this year, part of the million dollars in income she earns.  Her compensation and investments were listed as part of Donald Trump's latest financial disclosure report, which all presidential candidates are required to file.

The former first lady earns a substantial income from speaking fees, properties in New York and Slovenia that she rents and her non-fungible token  licensing agreement. Among the revenue listed is over $237,000 for one speaking engagement - paid for by the Log Cabin Republicans - in April 2024. That month Melania Trump hosted a $10,000-a-ticket fundraiser for the conservative LGBTQ group at Mar-a-Lago.

Guardian - FBI agents have raided and searched the Virginia home of Dimitri Simes, an author and policy analyst, who advised Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential election campaign and who currently hosts a current affairs program on Russia’s state-run Channel One. The raid began on 13 August, the FBI told the local Rappahannock News, which first reported the story.

Simes, whose name was included more than 100 times in the 2019 Mueller report into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, told the paper he was out of the country and had not been notified about the search ahead of time. He was not aware he was the focus of any current law enforcement investigation, he said.
