NPR - In Sunland Park, N.M., temperatures can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The rough, shadeless terrain can be life-threatening to migrants who try to enter the U.S. through this town. Fire Captain Abraham Garcia says his department has been overwhelmed by calls to help lost, injured and dehydrated migrants who are trying to evade Border Patrol officers.
