RIP: Walter Mondale

Sam Smith -  Your editor playing drums with the New Sunshine Jazz Band at a party for Walter Mondale, who had just returned from Ronald Reagan's inauguration. This was the last gig I played on drums; subsequently switched to piano. 

My other connection with the Mondales was that his wife Joan was one of my predecessors as head of the parent association of nearby public John Eaton School.  That was not an easy standard to try to meet.
