Anthropoligical look at upscale Park Avenue moms has them upset

Page Six - Wednesday Martin’s book “Primates of Park Avenue” has had the effect of “dropping a bomb” on the Upper East Side, leaving some of the wealthy mothers she befriended “furious and afraid.”

A source whose child attended the 92Y Nursery School with Martin’s offspring said a guessing game has emerged about which glossy, manicured moms are included as stories in the book, aside from those “friends” named on the acknowledgments page.

The source told Page Six, “The author asked a bunch of the moms for their stories for the book, and told everyone she wouldn’t say anything bad, then tossed them all under the bus. Everyone is furious, and afraid.”

The Post’s Maureen Callahan described in Sunday’s Post how Martin’s book delves into the intense world of glamorous stay-at-home moms married to Manhattan’s rich, powerful “masters of the universe.”

It includes details of sex segregation, alcohol and drug abuse, wild displays of competition, extreme pampering of children, social jockeying, plus women who are given bonuses by their husbands — the so-called “annual wife bonus” based on how well she manages their kids and the home. And then there’s details of one of Madison Avenue’s most popular spots, the AA meeting held in the church between Ralph Lauren and Prada.
