More rain is in the forecast for the Sierra, which will further exacerbate the conditions in the already strained infrastructure system of dams, levies, etc. Additionally, the California coastline is experiencing substantial winter erosion due to the same storm systems inundating the mountains. The economic costs are starting mount, it's only a matter of time before some disastrous event makes denial impossible---for the 200,000 people evacuated in Northern California, that time is likely now.
