Brussels planning free transit on air polluted days

Plaentizen - "Brussels has moved to make the city’s public transport and bike share system free on the smoggiest days in a bid to drive down pollution levels and meet EU air quality directives," reports Arthur Nelson.

The free public transit rides would be triggered whenever the city's air quality surpasses 51-70 micrograms of particulate matter per cubic metre of air for two consecutive days. City officials say the new air quality measures will be in place by the summer.
