Tillerson acknowledges Russian interference in election

Daily Beast - Beleaguered Secretary of State Rex Tillerson acknowledged in a closed-door meeting with U.S. diplomats on Tuesday that Russia “interfered in democratic processes here,” something President Trump still describes as “fake news” intended to delegitimize his presidency.

It’s a precarious position for Tillerson to take, even privately. Tillerson’s job is on thin ice, as rumors swirl that he will be swapped out for CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Within the department, Tillerson’s support is wafer-thin, as diplomats have come to see his purpose as hollowing out U.S. diplomacy.

Publicly, Tillerson has been a bit more circumspect about the Kremlin question. In April, Tillerson called the “question of Russian interference” in the election something that was “fairly well-established.” In August, Tillerson told his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, that the election meddling engendered “serious mistrust between our two countries.”

Sam, this is rubbish. Tillerson isn't an authority on democratic processes, diplomacy, or Russia. He's an oil executive that's been ramrodding the destruction of the environment for decades. If he's got dirt on that, let's hear what he has to say. Otherwise, he's full of shit and watching liberal-centrists treat him with respect is an embarrassment.

The Russiagate story is a hydra-headed zombie, one which despite many confusions, conflations, and retractions, continues to stagger along. Are certain parts of America's political economy so desperate and blind that long-overdue and eminently justified domestic dissent must be defined as meddling from afar?

Most would think you wouldn't fall for that. Russiagate is Nader 2000 Part II: A Bigger Shark! America remains in a miasma of delusion and poverty, the new Gilded Age happening as the country is in decline instead of ascending. The least we can do is be honest about it. The problems are ours alone.

acknowledge is a misleading word. you cant acknowledge what hasnt been proven. you can only profess to believe the as yet to be proven.
