San Francisco gentrification now evicting a historic black chuch

Guardian - St John Coltrane African Orthodox Church, a historic church in San Francisco’s Fillmore District, is facing eviction due in part to skyrocketing property values in the city. The church canonized jazz legend John Coltrane in 1982, and its services combine the liturgy of the African Orthodox Church with Coltrane’s music. It is one of the remaining vestiges of a once sizable African American community in the city.
