The US unemployment rate fell to 4.9 percent in January, the Labor Department reported on Friday. It's the first time the unemployment rate has fallen below 5 percent since the 2008 financial crisis.

Did the unemployment rate fall because of all the discouraged workers who can't find a job, and have dropped off the official job hunting numbers? I find statistics like this highly dubious because they often hide ugly truths.
