Trump and fascism

Sam Smith - I don't view Donald Trump as a fascist; he has a much closer ties to Latin American dictatorships in which personal power is far more important than any ideology. But that doesn't mean that he - like numerous events and government actions of the recent past - aren't moving us towards a fascistic state.

For example, he may find hating Muslims aids his power obsession, but that doesn't mean the resulting debate doesn't also move us towards a less democratic society. Or consider this Trump comment: "“One of the first things I’d do in terms of executive order, if I win, will be to sign strong, strong statement that would go out to the country, out to the world, anybody killing policeman police woman, police officer, anybody killing police officer, the death penalty is going to happen."

As with banning Muslims, only a dictator could accomplish what Trump desires without the approval of Congress, not to mention subsequent Supeme Court cases. and while this isn't fascism but it certain moves the country in that direction.

The general category for South American dictators, the Trumps, the Clintons, Bushes, and Obamas is: psychopath.
