The final set of polls in Florida indicate the medical marijuana measure might fail. All show Amendment 2, Use of Marijuana for Certain Medical Conditions, probably won’t get enough support to be approved. While the measure will likely be supported by a majority of voters, under Florida law any amendment on the ballot needs get at least 60 percent of the vote to be approved.

Too much of Florida's shadow economy is built upon the smuggling trade, so is it any wonder that legitimate, legal sales of marijuana would be welcomed be the alleged gangsters that control the state?
It's an amazing display watching the activity as all manner of vessel navigate the holding pattern that is entree to the Port of Miami, as cigarette boats, scows, and everything else flit about 'salvaging' stray bundles that happen to fall into the sea---war on drugs my ass.
It's funny thing how the most conservative seeming, with the most pious demeanor somehow manage to become the deeply involved in the certain illicit activities.
as lateral departure, but still consistent with the theme, consider the following news item:
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_26824065/defendant-mennonite-drug-cartel-conspiracy-case-pleads-guilty
While reading, bear in mind that just this week a brown-skinned native Mexican was just sentenced to 35 years in prison for possessing a kilo of cocaine and some grams of heroin. Perhaps the punishment suits the crime, but that becomes a difficult sale when one considers that Abraham Friesen-Remple, a Mexican Mennonite working with the Juarez cartel was caught smuggling 11 tons of marijuana and 31 kilos of cocaine will get off with a 15 month sentence of time served this December.
Much to ponder...
