Army claims its blimp over Washington won't do video spying

EPIC - According to the Washington Post, the Department of Army will not deploy video surveillance cameras over the nation's capital. The announcement follows the release of documents to EPIC in a Freedom Information Act lawsuit. The blimps provide radar-based aerial surveillance and targeting capabilities. A recent video by the contractor Raytheon revealed that 24/7 video surveillance feed is easily incorporated. An Army Spokesperson told the Post that the blimps will "absolutely, 100 percent" not include video capacity.

With all due respect to any and all Spokespersons (after all, what would they know?), its my unswerving policy to supply any potential arial video surveillance equipment with a three-finger test pattern out the window to hone their focus, as in the last time DARPA floated one over town when I was coming down the Whitehurst Freeway on the way to work, several years ago... Cheers, Tom
