Could he [Mr. Obama] order the targeted killing of an American citizen [cleric Anwar al-Awlaki], in a country with which the United States was not at war, in secret and without the benefit of a trial?
The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel prepared a lengthy memo justifying that extraordinary step, asserting that while the Fifth Amendment’s guarantee of due process applied, it could be satisfied by internal deliberations in the executive branch.[NYT]Yep, judge, jury and executioner.
That used to un-American, not to mention illegal. What happened?

War with terrorists happened. If any targeted terrorist had voluntarily come to America and demanded a fair trial, he might have gotten one. He has lost the right to kill anyone he wants, and that's all. Next question?
What happened, you ask. The short answer is "Liberals" happened.
Columnist, Chris Hedges, recently stated that "The presidential election exposed the liberal class as a corpse. It fights for nothing. It stands for nothing..."
Hence, they're content to support anything Obama does because he's a democrat.
"What happened" started with the laws that criminalised even half-seriously threatening to kill a politician.
Contrast that with Poplicola's law that made it an absolute defence against a charge of murder to show that the victim had intended to make himself king.
That's more like a "short bus" answer. What are you 12?
Israel is America's first line of defense against Saudi-sponsored terrorism, and it has been for its whole existence. That reality has nothing whatever to do with nonsense like "left", "right", "liberal" or "conservative".
