Monday Morning Line

Sam Smith - Obama remains tied with Romney in the popular vote but continues to lead in the electoral count, where he is only 41 votes short of winning. Two things to bear in mind: (1) election day organizing is going to be of humungous importance and (2) almost without exception, the changes in the electoral count have involved states going to and from Obama or undecided. Romney remains stuck at about 182 of the 270 he needs.

Arbitrage is a fine movie about screwed up Wall Street, but one thing seems to be missing in the reaction: Tim Roth is one of the best detectives your ever going to see in a movie. This guy should definitely get an Oscar.

Washington warned about partisanship, foreign influence and subversion of republican government. The GOP and Dems sparked a civil war on behalf of sectional interests. Money now frames government, but Romney calls for a national surrender. The Constitution would be defended by a coin flip.
