Downgrading music

An example of the excessive zeal and protection in music is the Irving Berlin Estate. They have worked so hard in protecting his music, demanding high fees for any performance or hint of a tune that it is no longer known, no longer played and his name is forgotten.  It is a triumph of the industry: Irving Berlin has been protected into oblivion.  - Grant Schreiber, Chicago, IL

Let the babies have their bottles: Never pay for Big Label artists.

Let the RIAA MPAA be protected into oblivion and join their lovely artists.

I would guess that his sheet music is still available- and in his era this was a favored distribution. The problem is that Americans don't crowd around the piano with his sheet music in hand. The phenomenal performances of Berlin, such as "I never had a chance" by the sweet and hot bands of the 20's and 30's would be tragic to price out of the market. I put together my Berlin collection from copies of CD's from the public library.
