Pocket paradigms
The irony is that Barack Obama is none of the things the right claims. He is not a socialist, a radical, Satan or a Muslim. His only secret agenda is to be as much as possible like the people who are accusing him of these things. Obama is a closet muddled myopic conservative trying to make as few changes to the system as possible. The right should stop criticizing him and embrace him. - Sam Smith

The fierce opposition is merely part of the dance, orchestrated to perpetuate the myth of change and, as much as anything, reinforce the "left's" perception of the chief occupant.
You don't understand - that whole list of accusations keeps pressure on him to AVOID doing anything that falls into those labels. It shoves the whole frame of debate further to the right so that minor things like birth control are suddenly gigantic leftist conspiracies and am assault on religious liberties. It's a very orchestrated effort to constantly stretch the "acceptable from of discussion" wider to the right, thus moving the center further to the right.
I wish Obama was a socialist, then his healthcare law would have included single payer healthcare.
