Michele Bachmann, thank God we hardly knew ye

Marcus Bachmann says his role as First Man in the White House will be to hate gays

GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann says gay people do have the right to get married -- so long as they're planning on tying the knot with a member of the opposite sex.

Michelle Bachmann is taking all of this Iran business very seriously. After the British embassy in Tehran was stormed on Tuesday and nations like the UK and France started drawing down their diplomatic presences there, Bachmann took to the stump to suggest America do the same. Except? The United States doesn’t have an embassy in Iran. And we haven’t had one for years now. For so long, in fact, there hasn’t been a US embassy in Iran for the entire lifetime of every single one of Bachmann’s twenty-eight children. But sure, let’s shut it down a second time just for good measure.- Wonkette

Cain, Santorum, Bachmann support waterboard torture

Michele Bachmann says if you turn Herman Cain's "9-9-9" plan upside down it becomes 6-6-6. "I think the devil is in the details," she said at the GOP debate.

Michele Bachman would end individual taxes: Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked Bachmann about a question at a previous Republican debate on how much of every dollar taxpayers should get to keep. Bachmann said that she talked to the young man who asked the question at the last debate. “I said ‘I wish I could have answered that question, because I want to tell you what my answer is. I think you earned every dollar, you should get to keep every dollar that you earned,’” Bachmann said. “That’s your money, that’s not the government’s money, that’s the whole point.”

Witnesses: Bachmann clinic abused gay youth

“My husband said ‘Now you need to go and get a post-doctorate degree in tax law.’ Tax law! I hate taxes—why should I go and do something like that?” she told the audience. “But the Lord says be submissive. Wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.” (In this video, Bachmann also reports that the Lord told her to run for Congress)

Legal question: Can someone who claims they submissively follow the orders of their husband and someone they identify only as "The Lord" serve as president under the Constitution?

CARL QUINTANILLA (CNBC): Does it strike you that as the unemployment rate goes up that your chances of winning office also go up?. . . .MICHELE BACHMANN: Well, that could be. Again, I hope so.

Bachmann's a welfare mother

"Most Americans recognize
that Israelis and Americans are two sides of the same coin because we share the same values and the same aspirations," Bachmann says. "We even share the same exceptional mission -- to be a light to the nations." - Michelle Bachmann

Bachmann graduated from Oral Roberts Law School, which eventually closed and transferred its library to Pat Robertson's Regent Law School. The Regent Law School Review provides an insight into Bachmann's view on law - and history: "Regent University Law Review seeks to present academically excellent scholarship on relevant issues facing the legal community today from the perspective of a historic Christian worldview. It is committed to a jurisprudence based upon a Higher Law; that is, law based upon the Law of God." - Buzz Flash

Why Bachmann didn't 'raise' 23 foster children

If God seems a little distant, it may be because he's otherwise engaged PolitiFact, a Pulitzer Prize-winning feature of the St. Petersburg Times that checks whether statements made by politicians are true, has repeatedly determined that Bachmann's claims don't ring true. "We have checked her 13 times, and seven of her claims to be false and six have been found to be ridiculously false," PolitiFact editor Bill Adair said. Adair said no politician has been checked as often as Bachmann without saying at least something that's true. "I don't know anyone else that we have checked, more than a couple times, that has never earned anything above a false," he said. "She is unusual in that regard that she has never gotten a rating higher than false.
